‘150th Birthday Celebration’

Like so many other institutions, Historic Bovaird House, [with help from Brampton Historical Society and the Brampton Heritage Board], hosted a very successful ‘150th Birthday Celebration’ for our great country.

Visitors were encouraged to come and enjoy making full use of our beautiful, spacious grounds and gardens ‘Friends of Historic Bovaird House’ volunteers were decked out in period costume demonstrating everyday pioneer skills from 1867 . . . quilting, tatting, weaving, spinning, ‘wash day’ rituals and even blacksmithing! No birthday celebration would be complete without some form of entertainment and what would a pioneer day be without some good old fashioned country fiddling. Folks gathered ’round the old gazebo where the popular ‘Dino-P-Sideroad Trio’ had toes tapping as they ran through their extensive program of reels, jigs, rags and two steps. For our birthday party refreshments. Historic Bovaird House volunteers served complimentary local grown strawberries and ice cream along with glasses of frosty lemonade.
